Miss Gay America 2010 Alyssa Edwards (Dethroned)

Miss Gay America 2010 Alyssa Edwards has been dethroned by the owners of the Miss Gay America pageant system. 1st Alternate Coco Montrese has been appointed to the title and will be formally crowned at a function in February.
Although the exact reasons have not been released, it is being reported that the owners of Miss Gay America were not happy that Alyssa went to CA recently to judge the Miss CA EOY pageant and did not get permission from the Miss Gay America organization. All bookings for Miss Gay America must go through the owners. Alyssa felt that she was there only as Alyssa and not as Miss Gay America. She was there only as a judge and did not entertain. We believe that there are other reasons as well and we have heard that two former Miss Gay Americas had complained to the Miss Gay America owners about Alyssa's behavior. Once we have more information, we will let you know.
Alyssa is a former Miss Gay USofA.

Miss International Queen 2009 Haruna Ai of Japan (C), flanked by first runner-up Kangsadal Wongdusadeekul of Thailand (R) and second runner-up Daniela Marques of Brazil. She was crowned during the Miss International Queen beauty pageant in Pattaya, southeastern Thailand late on October 31, 2009. The Miss International Queen Pageant is aimed at the promotion of tolerance and positive attitude towards transsexuals and transvestites.

Haruna Ai, 37, beat off stiff competition from 20 other glamorous contestants at the Miss International Queen 2009 who came to the Thai beach resort of Pattaya from as far as Brazil and the United States.
'I am very, very, very happy,' a tearful Miss Ai told AFP minutes after the previous title holder carefully placed a faux-diamond tiara on her head. 'I want contests like this to show everyone that they should love each other and live freely. The way of life in Japan is more traditional and transsexuals cannot live freely, but in Thailand they can do what they want.'
The contest, which was called off last year because of political turmoil in Thailand, is taken just as seriously as more traditional pageants in a nation famed for its sexual tolerance.
The first round saw them in kitschy national dress, with a US contestant resplendent in a feathered native American costume and a British entrant donning a Beefeater outfit with black satin leggings and Busby hat. The lights then sank low as the contestants paraded elegant evening gowns and later modelled pink swimsuits, while giant fluorescent kites soared over the stage.
Japan's Miss Ai won US$10,000 (S$14,005), a year's stay at a Pattaya hotel and a US$500 surgical voucher after judges picked her over runners-up Karngsadal Wongdusadeekul from Thailand and Daniela Marques of Brazil.

I don't know which way the judges will go. Armani's talent was ok, not great. Mokha did great, but she was first out in each category. First contestants to be judged usually are scored lower and the scores go up as the remainder of contestants are judged.

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen are set to take the Nokia Theater stage tonight to sing 3 songs–Simon Fuller’s choice, Favorite song of the Season and the Coronationv Song. Plus, Carrie Underwood will take the stage to perform the Idol Boot song, “Home Sweet Home”. Kris chose to perform second tonight, after he won a coin toss after last week’s results show. Adam will perform first.
Wednesday night is the big finale, with a host of celebrities set to perform. The Top 13 will be reunited to perform once more, individually and in groups. At night’s end, the Season 8 American Idol will be crowned.
Adam Lambert is set to sing “Mad World” as his personal choice tonight. Reports are that he’ll be performing it with “a twist”

Tomorrow's finale won't just be Allison, Aminat, and Teyona's last time on America's Next Top Model, the finale will also be judge Paulina Porizkova's last ANTM appearance. During an apperance on tonight's Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Paulina says she was let go by Tyra Banks and America's Next Top Model.
When Craig Ferguson asked Paulina how it was working with Tyra Banks, Paulina broke the shocking news. "Listen, do you know why I am in Los Angeles...because I am looking for a job. Because I was fired by America's Next Top Model on my birthday." A birthday firing? Ouch!
A quick wikipedia check reveals that Paulina's birthday was April 9th, so the supermodel stunner was fired just over a month ago. It sounds like no love is lost between Paulina and her now former employer, "The reason I was told I was fired was because, it seemed that America's Next Top Model has gotten too fat and they needed to cut some fat and the fat was me." Paulina later said she figured the other reason she was fired was, "My gigantic huge ego. Which I wasn't aware of until I was told by the producers that I have an ego problem." Sounds like it was not a pleasant ending for either party.
Paulina joined America's Next Top Model as a judge during Cycle 10 as a replacement for Twiggy.

"Golden Girl" Bea Arthur Dies At Age 86

(CNN) -- Bea Arthur, the actress best known for her roles as television's "Maude" and the sardonic Dorothy on "The Golden Girls," has died of cancer, a family spokesman said Saturday.
She was 86.
Spokesman Dan Watt said that Arthur died Saturday morning at her home in Los Angeles, her family by her side.
She is survived by her sons Matthew and Daniel and grandchildren Kyra and Violet, he said.
No funeral services are currently planned, Watt said, adding that the family asked that donations be made to either the Art Attack Foundation or PETA in lieu of flowers.
Arthur's opinionated Maude first appeared on Norman Lear's "All in the Family" as Edith Bunker's cousin, and was so popular that Lear created a spin-off series.
In the '70s, "Maude" was ahead of the social curve, tackling hot topics not usually mentioned on situation comedies -- pornography, race relations and, in an episode titled "Maude's Dilemma," abortion.
That episode spawned demonstrations and generated hate mail for Arthur -- when Maude and husband Walter (Bill Macy) decided on that episode they were too old to raise a child.

But many saw Maude as an enduring icon for women's liberation -- a big deal for the shy, Jewish girl born Bernice Frankel in New York City.
During the Depression, Arthur's family left the Big Apple and opened a clothing store in Cambridge, Maryland. By the time she was 12, Arthur was nearly 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and self-conscious about her height.
But she masked her insecurity with comedy and eventually returned to New York to study acting. Along the way, she had a short-lived marriage she never spoke about, but she kept the last name -- Arthur.
The young Bea Arthur earned a living singing and doing stage work on Broadway and off-Broadway. Critics delighted in her haughty, serpent-tongued deliveries.
Her first television appearance came in 1951 in a long-forgotten series called "Once Upon a Tune," but she quickly made a name for herself with appearances on "Studio One," "Kraft Television Theatre" and "The Sid Caesar Show."
Arthur drew attention in "Threepenny Opera" on Broadway with Lotte Lenya, but she really turned heads in 1964 originating the role of Yente the Matchmaker in "Fiddler on the Roof."
In 1966, Arthur won a Tony Award for the caustic Vera Charles in the play "Mame," playing opposite Angela Lansbury in the title role. Eight years later, she reprised the role in the film version opposite Lucille Ball, but by then she was already well-established as Maude.
Arthur left "Maude" in 1978, making television and some film appearances afterward. She starred in a short-lived series, "Amanda's," in 1983 and then joined the cast of "The Golden Girls" in 1985 with Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty.
Her role as Dorothy Zbornak gave Arthur her other major television success as one of four older women living together in Florida. (Getty, the youngest of the four, played Arthur's mother). The role earned Arthur a second Emmy -- the first was for "Maude."
Arthur left the show after Dorothy remarried at the end of the 1991-92 season. White, McClanahan and Getty continued for another season on the show, renamed "The Golden Palace," but the show lasted only one season without Arthur.
Arthur entered semi-retirement after the show ended in 1992, returning to television in sporadic guest appearances and appearing at several celebrity roasts. In the early part of this decade, Arthur appeared in several one-woman shows.
Her last stage appearance was in 2006. Her last television appearance was on "The View" in 2007.

The 22-year-old aspiring motivational speaker and entertainer from Wilmington edged out first runner-up Miss California USA Carrie Prejean, of San Diego, and second runner-up Miss Arizona USA Alicia-Monique Blanco, of Phoenix."It feels really natural," Dalton said of her win. "I've worked so be here and this has been my lifelong dream and it's finally here. And whoever knew you could win in a turquoise gown?"Contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia competed in the pageant, aired live on NBC. Contestants were judged by their performance in swimsuit and evening gown modeling contests and their responses to a question asked onstage; unlike the rival Miss America pageant, Miss USA contestants do not perform a talent.The top 15 contestants worked the stage in white string bikinis designed by pop star Jessica Simpson's swimwear line. 'Project Runway' lawsuit settled; season 6 to air this summer on Lifetime

After being orphaned for almost a year due to legal deadlock, the sixth season of Project Runway has finally found a home: on Lifetime, where it will air this summer. "NBC Universal, The Weinstein Company and Lifetime have resolved their disputes," read a statement released today by NBC Universal, which owns Bravo, Runway's home for five seasons. "The Weinstein Company will pay NBCU for the right to move Project Runway to Lifetime. All of the parties are pleased with the outcome." (When The Weinstein Co. announced last April that Runway would be moving to Lifetime, NBC Universal sued for breach of contract. Eventually, The Weinstein Co. countersued NBC Universal for allegedly failing to properly promote season 5, and Lifetime then sued both parties.)
Also in a statement, Lifetime Networks President and CEO Andrea Wong said: "I couldn’t be more excited that Lifetime will bring its viewers an amazing, all-new season of Project Runway this summer. As the highest-rated cable network for women, Lifetime is the perfect home for this outstanding program as well as its companion series, Models of the Runway. All of us at Lifetime are thrilled to move forward with Heidi, Tim, Nina, Michael, The Weinstein Company and the entire Project Runway team."
As for Harvey Weinstein, the Bravo statement quoted him as saying, "'I want to personally congratulate [President and Chief Executive Officer of NBC Universal] Jeff Zucker and NBCU on their success in the litigation and thank Jeff for resolving this in a professional manner. We look forward to working together on our ongoing projects.'" And in a statement of his own, Weinstein looked forward to not only the next five seasons of Runway (on Lifetime), but also spin-off shows Models of the Runway and Project Pygmalion. "With these upcoming shows and the success of our new series The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency on HBO, we are very excited about the continued growth of The Weinstein Co’s television division," Weinstein said. "We are also looking forward to working with NBC Universal on the upcoming theatrical release of Inglourious Basterds and the continued development of other projects together."

Top Model Audition Ends In Chaos

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Three people were arrested Saturday after chaos broke out at an "America's Next Top Model" audition at a New York hotel, police said.

Six people were injured, and two of them sought treatment at a hospital, authorities said.

Police said they didn't know what provoked the bedlam, which resulted in three people being charged with disorderly conduct and inciting a riot in connection to the incident at the Park Central New York hotel in Manhattan.

The audition was shut down after the incident, authorities said.

Calls to Park Central management were not immediately returned on Saturday.

The "Top Model" competition, hosted and produced by supermodel Tyra Banks and aired by the CW network, is in its 12th cycle.

The pageant was marked by drama. Due to bad winter weather, Club Scorpios in Charlotte had to close. People were then told by pageant owners that the pageant would not be held. That was then changed and told the pageant was back on and would be held at the pageant owners home club, Night Owls, in Gastonia. The club is about 30 miles from Charlotte. I do not know why they though the weather would improve. Most of Gastonia was in the dark due to a blackout from the storm. The six contestants that did make it, were told that they would have to compete in the dark without any heat in the club. Flashlights would be used and a truck was pulled up to the side door and was going to be used to play music from the truck radio for the contestants. I am not making this mess up. Evening Gown was held in the dark. The power did come back on in time for talent.

Miss North Carolina USofA was once a very successful preliminary to Miss Gay USofA. They use to have around 20 to 30 contestants compete, but it has been straight downhill since the new owners took over. It would not surprise me if the pageant changes hands for next year.

Who helped you or inspired you the most when you first started your career as an entertainer?
My mother has been my true inspiration.How did you first become involved in the art of female impersonation?I started dressing as a female at the age of 4... and started taking drag seriously right after graduating high school.What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment? Winning Miss Florida FI 2008 has been my greatest achievement thus far... but I'm not stopping there... I want to continue competing for as long as I can continue to enthuse audiences.

What pageant systems have you competed in and what titles have you held?
I have competed in all of them... Miss Gay Pennsylvania America 1995... Miss Gay Pennsylvania USofA 1999... Miss Ohio Continental 2001... Miss New York City FFI 2004, and now Miss Florida FI 2008What was your first pageant and how was that experience?I first competed in Memphis, TN at a small bar called Rumples... and I didn't even come close to winning, yet I still had a great experience because I learned alot from it.

US Airways Plane Crashes Into The Hudson River

A U.S. Airways plane , flight # 1549 from LaGuardia to Charlotte, N.C., came down in the Hudson River off New York City on Thursday, and remained afloat in the frigid waters.Local media said the plane was an Airbus with 150 passengers and five crew which had just taken off from La Guardia Airport and was trying to return after apparently striking a flock of birds.More than a dozen people wearing yellow life vests were seen on the wings of the downed plane as it floated in the river, and they were plucked to safety by ferries that surrounded the jet.

All passengers and crew were rescued from the plane.

The 21st season of MTVs Real World has begun.

I will try and keep up with the season and have rundowns each week.

I think that this year MTV has tried to go back to their old formula when the show first began with Real World New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc, where they took more "real" people who where different and had them look at each others lifes more. The last few season seemed to be just about sex and being drunk.

Lets look first at the cast :

Scott has a very hot body and seems like he will be the eye candy for the season. he had very little air time on the first episode, but I am sure that will change. He was the only one who did not think Katelynn was a transsexual.

"The Golden Girls" Move From Lifetime

The Hallmark Channel and WE tv have acquired the cable rights to "The Golden Girls" starting in March 2009 in a shared cable deal. This means the sitcom will leave its home at Lifetime Television of 12 years at the end of February 2009. The show has been on Lifetime since March 1, 1997 and was one of the highest rated series in the history of the network.

"The Golden Girls" was the only reason I watched Lifetime. When they leave, so will I. I think it was a very bad decision for Lifetime to let the show go.

Todd From Lifetimes "Blush" Passed Away

Todd Homme, one of the three finalists on Lifetime's reality show Blush: The Search For the Next Great Makeup Artist, was found dead in his NYC apartment on Saturday at the young age of 23. Todd's mother told TVGuide that he went to sleep during the afternoon and never woke up. His boyfriend found him.
Todd's mother also said that the medical examiner is currently investigating the cause of death. Todd didn't have any health issues and there were no drugs, pills or alcohol in his system. They think there might have been problems with his heart.
She said, "It's devastating to us. We're in shock right now. He was born a month and a half early, walked at ten months and never sat down. He was always helping people and everyone calls him a guardian angel and he just loved everybody."

Can you to tell us a little bit about yourself and where you are from?
I am probably the most down to earth person you can meet, I don't believe in arrogance or belittling others, I get this from my parents whom I was very lucky to be adopted at birth and placed in their arms.
I am originally from the Chicago area.

Who helped you or inspired you the most when you first started your career as an entertainer?
When I started my career I have to say the late Diana Hutton gave me the great advice and then my drag mother the late Patti Cakes I miss them Both very much!

How did you first become involved in the art of female impersonation?

I saw my first drag show at LaCage in Chicago and I knew that I wanted to do this as I also knew since I was about 3 years old I wanted to be a girl, so this would give me an outlet to perform and express this side of me.

What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment?

I would have to say my greatest accomplishment to this day is finding Matthew my husband who loves me and believes in me and loves the whole Drag/female impersonation/showgirl art form.

What pageant systems have you competed in and what titles have you held?

Hmmm... what system haven't I competed in, I have won over 40 titles but at 43 I finally won Miss Gay Universe in Sydney Australia.

What was your first pageant and how was that experience?

Miss Chicago Continental in 83 and I was a hot damn mess except for my talent! As I was dancer and really one of the first white queens to actually dance

Since moving from the US to Australia, do you feel that there are differences between American drag and Australian drag? If so what are they?
In Sydney Australia the drag is amazing and we could learn a lot from those girls as they put on full production shows that could be good enough for Broadway they are brilliant! In the USA Silicone is more prevalent and the girls here at times look a bit more real. But the girls in the USA who do Characters are amazing I always say back here the girls really study the character they are doing and do it right!
Also, in the USA they tip and in the rest of the world they don't, at first I won't lie I missed the tips but after a little while I enjoyed the show better as there isn't someone just standing there taking money and you really get to see the entertainer as they have to perform a whole number with out any interruptions

After your SRS you became a flight attendant for Delta airlines . Can you tell us about that?
A month after my surgery I put in an application to be a flight attendant as that was always one of my life dreams and I was hired and went to training immediately, It was an amazing job and the places in the world it allowed me to see just made me thank God everyday to be so fortunate.

Alot of people may not know that you are married. Do you mind telling us about your husband and how you met?
Not at all, Matt is going through immigrations right now so that we can relocate back to the USA to be closer to my mom (whom I take care of during the week and my sister take care of her on the weekends so I can do some shows) and also bring my Cher show and another show venture we are trying to get off the ground.
Matt is an amazing person, we met online as I had just gotten my heart broken and I didn't date for awhile so a girl friend of mine suggested I put an ad on the Internet and I was immediately like " are you kidding? I will meet every freak and weirdo in the world not thinking any guy would think I was one.. LOL
I finally gave in and Matt responded we corresponded for 8 months and got to know each other better than any guy I had ever gotten to know. we dated long distance and visited each other several times for almost 2 years then he proposed and we got married in the same Church my Mom and Dad 53 years before us! I had my Cinderella wedding.
Matt is an amazing caring giving person who made me realize that it is just the USA at times that makes you feel that when you have had your surgery you are no longer an entertainer and should move out of that community. The rest of the world doesn't care as they look at our community as the Gay Lesbian bisexual and transgender community and that encompasses all. And if you are good entertainer they embrace you!

Where would someone be able to see you perform?
I don't have a home bar right now per say, But you can see me every Monday in Davenport Iowa at Club Fusions with Amber Andrews and the rest of the great girls there and I am also always looking to travel and see new Places and meet great friends!

What advice would you give to someone just starting out as an entertainer?
The same advice my drag mother gave me....
Beauty fades within the first 5 seconds of being on stage you have to be able to hold the audience in your hand after that 5 seconds and always keep them guessing what you are going to do next and wear next, never wear the same hair twice in a night and don't repeat your favorite song week after week after week because then why would anyone want to come back, as they will say why go? I know what she is going to do (seen it been there!) I live by this!

What are some of your favorite cities either to perform in or just visit?
Bangkok Thailand, Lincoln Nebraska I was just there this past week and oh my God the girls are so sweet and fun! and the Bar the Q is amazing ( yes I said amazing in Lincoln Nebraska) also the Stonewall in Huntington WV the guys there make you feel like family! Sydney Australia, And any where else in the world that will have me LOL.

Who are some of your favorite designers and where do you like to shop for clothes ?

My Favorite designers are Versace, Tom Ford, and since I can't afford them I shop at Sequinqueen.com where I am now the USA customer service manager.

Describe what a normal day in your life is like?

Monday through Friday help my Mom and work as the Customer Service manager for sequinqueen.com for the price and quality you great great costumes!

Favorite Movie(s) ? Somewhere in time Favorite Singer(s) / Favorite Song(s)? well this one is easy! Cher. Favorite Television show(s) past or present? Charlies Angels and of course Wonder Woman I wanted to grow and be Kelly Garret and Linda Carter

In closing, what would you like to say to your fans?
First I want to say thank you, for thinking enough of me to want to do this interview. Second I just want to thank everyone and anyone who still remembers me after all these years. I am blessed to have met so many amazing people in my life all around the world and I know there are so many more to meet!

NeNe Gets Evicted

I did not think that I would like Bravo's "Real Housewives of Atlanta' show, but I did. My favorite person on the show is NeNe.
Well, remember when Kim Zolciak (who I do not like and I don't think has very much money either) texted NeNe and called her a "low budget bitch"? Well, she might not have been too far off. . The true star of the Real Housewives of Atlanta was evicted from her home for not paying rent! Yes, she apparently was a renter and not a buyer. This should have happened to Kim, noy my NeNe.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that NeNe and her husband, Gregory Leakes, owed $6,240 in past rent on the 5,000 square foot home in Duluth, GA.
According to records, the home was purchased for $829k by some guy who lives overseas. NeNe and Greg moved into the home in 2006. The eviction noticed was filed back in September.
In an e-mailed statement to the AJC, NeNe said, “It’s none of your business." But then she went on to sort-of explain what happened. She said the home “was a lease purchase corporate deal with Greg & his company. Things didn’t work out between the two of them so they did what they had to do and he did what he had to do. If we rent, lease purchase or buy, money is still coming out of my pocket. So who’s [sic] business is that??”
NeNe said she's financially stable and doing fine.
It should make for a great season two.
